ATHLETICS

DPSI Athletics

We believe in the power of sports done right. More than winning or losing, sports can help us connect with ourselves and with each other. Here at Calhoun we know sports aren’t separate from what happens during the school day, but an integral part of learning—whether it’s supporting classmates in their big game, getting to know coaches and teammates during bus rides to and from competition, or stepping up to try a difficult drill in practice. Through our teams, clinics, training programs and camps, we aim to create spaces in which young people are challenged to take risks, to show up for each other, to practice accountability, and to believe in themselves.

DPSI Athletics supports every student-athletes right to self-identify and encourages students to play on the team that best affirms their gender identity. We are committed to creating space for student-athletes across the gender spectrum, and we recognize the structures within which we play often reinforce the binary. We intentionally use "Girls/Non-Binary Students," "Boys/Non-Binary Students" and "All Genders" to include everyone in our community. We also recognize that our language is limited and constantly evolving.
